After coming back from our amazing road trip through the United States we didn't take much time to relax. Our new camper was ready to be picked up. And ofcourse we were very excited to try it out and start a new road trip. This time we had some great adventures in France, Spain and Portugal. Enjoy...

We drove further to explore the magnificent cliffs along the Atlantic coast of Portugal. The weather in Portugal was very hot and the water pleasantly cool. Being parked in one of the best places in Portugal we got to enjoy a lot of stunning sunsets. On the endless beaches we had some relaxing time for ourselves.
We organised a learning day for the children by visiting the 'Zoo de Lagos' which we found to be a very beautiful and fun zoo. While on the road we discovered some ancient megaliths.
Portugal and especially Carrapateira will always have a special place in our hearts.

We left the wine region of Murcia and headed our way more south, driving through Granada into the Sierra Nevada.
It was mid summer and there was almost no snow, the weather was nice, the views were stunning, and the sunsets were gorgeous.
After a quick stop in Sevilla, to buy a new bike tyre, we drove to Portugal.
The beaches in the Aljezur area are long and the waves always attract a lot of surfers. It was a whole lot of fun in this surfer's paradise.

We drove back to Spain along the Côte d'Azur and stumbled upon some amazing places, like a rocky beach in Martigues where the kids had the best time looking for fossils and snorkelling.
Back in Spain, we stayed on a camping ground by the beach where the kids got to sleep in their new Quechua 2 second tent. And more inland we found an amazing little camper place in Bocairent, in the garden of some fellow Belgians.
Finally, we ended up in the Spanish wine region Jumilla where we visited the Juan Gil family estates. We got to see where our favourite Spanish wine is made, and of course got to taste it too. Our day ended with a beautiful walk through the vineyards and an amazing sunset from the hillside where we parked for the night. A super quiet place with an amazing view over the vineyards.

YESss!! After almost a year of waiting, we can finally pick up our new camper van. We take it to the South of France to visit a boat show and have some fun at the beach. We had a great first time travelling with our new camper van.
Last summer (2019) we travelled through the USA for 2 months. We started in New York City, where we stayed for two weeks so we got a chance to really feel the New York vibe. And I have to say it was amazing! We would actually want to live there if only we were allowed. Although... maybe only in the summer months. (sorry, but I'm a summer person)
After two wonderful weeks in NYC, we rented a car, and what a car... a GMC Yukon XL... that's something you don't see in Europe. We were instantly in love. And it took us all the way from New Jersey to the Niagara Falls and then West from there... through Pennsylvania, Chicago, Yellowstone National Park, Salt Lake City, and a lot of places in between all of this, all the way to San Francisco. From there we went South until we reached Los Angeles and then back East to Las Vegas, the Grand Canyon, Monument Valley,... until we reached New Orleans, what a wonderful city. And last but not least we toured through Florida where we visited the Everglades and Disney World and had some rest at the beautiful beaches of the Keys...
This was our road trip in a nutshell.

Enjoy our finale episode in this series. You'll see our second trip to Disney World Orlando. This time it was a long and magical day that we all enjoyed very much!
Before going to Miami for our flight back to Europe, we stopped at the biggest Mc Donalds in the World. It is big. It was fun!
We didn't have much luck leaving the USA though. After a lot of hours of waiting our flight first got delayed, and later that night it got cancelled. So we got a hotel for the night and got rescheduled on another flight the next day. It was a long and exhausting way home. But we made it.

For the last stretch of our road trip we drove to the most southern point of the USA, Key West. We visited the beautiful Butterfly garden and ate some delicious lobsters. We planned to have enough time to stay in the Florida Keys because we absolutely love it there. So we had a few days of rest in the magnificent Isla Bella Resort.
And we got some good news from Disney: they offered us free tickets after they heard what happened to Liam. So we took off to Orlando again!

After enjoying our last day by the pool in Orlando Florida, we drove to the west coast of Florida. We had a relaxing day on Siesta Beach with its soft, white sand. The next day we drove further south to visit the Everglades National Park. We did an airboat tour and spotted some alligators. The more south we drove, the more we felt like we were in Paradise. We stayed one night in the wonderful, private Largo Resort. A paradise on earth. Quiet and chill.

We said goodbye to the beautiful New Orleans, and drove to Orlando, Florida. You can't make a road trip through the USA with your kids and not visit Disney, right? Unfortunately, the Disney Magic didn't last long for us. While we were waiting in line to get in our second ride of the day, Liam fainted because of some sort of heatstroke and he had to be taken to the hospital. The emergency medical staff took great care of him and after a few hours in the hospital, he was fully recovered. We had some scary moments that day, but everything ended well. And to make the best of the few hours left in this day we decided to take the kids to the movies to see ToyStory 4.

After 42 days of travelling the USA, we made it to the Delta of the Mississippi which we really look forward to. When we took the tram into the city of New Orleans we ended up in a heavy summer rain which resulted in some hilarious and unforgettable moments. We got soaked but after buying some ponchos and towels we were ready to explore the city. We treated ourself on the famous New Orleans oysters and we tasted alligator for the first time. In the evening we did a beautiful sunset dinner cruise along the Mississippi River on one of the well-known river steamboats. We danced into the night on the never-ending jazzy tunes. What an incredible city, full of positive vibes.

We were a little sad to leave Las Vegas behind us because we had a lot of fun there. But on the other hand, we were happy to get back into nature. So the next stop was The Grand Canyon, a must-see. We decided to go to the North Rim where it's calmer and quieter. It was truly breathtaking, enormous and the views were spectacular.
And next up was Monument Valley, definitely another beautiful wonder on our bucket list. In Monument Valley, we felt as if we were wandering in an old western movie. It was an amazing day. We also visited a dam and saw fossils of dinosaur paws, it was quite a surprise. It’s not something you see every day.

We drove to Los Angeles, the City Of Angels, after a quick visit to the gates of Neverland, where Michael Jackson used to live. Before driving into the crowded city we stopped at Malibu Beach for a nice swim in the pacific ocean. Our day in L.A. ended with a lovely dinner in Hollywood and a walk along The Walk Of Fame, where we spotted the famous stars. Los Angeles was super crowded when we were there, so we decided to drive on through the desert to Las Vegas. We had a few amazing days in this fabulous city, full of shopping, swimming, sightseeing, getting amazed by all the Vegas wonders and a little bit of gambling.

And the kids had a lot of fun playing around these giants.
We are thankful for nature to show us these wonders.
After the walk in the forest, we drove to Oceano Dunes where we had a great afternoon driving the car on the beach and through the sand dunes. Sometimes it was a little exiting, we were lucky and did not get stuck in this huge place.

After a good night sleep in Gilette, we started our journey to Yellowstone National Park. The road there is over the mountain pass with a lot of amazing, panoramic views and wildlife. There was still some snow on the tops in the middle of summer. We stopped to see a wild river and gave some nuts to the local chipmunks, they were so cute. While we were driving we spotted a bear, he was just trying to cross the road when we came around the corner. We were super excited, what an experience, too bad we couldn't catch this moment on camera.

In the evening we ended up in a hotel in Gilette where we enjoyed a surprising second view of the 4th of July fireworks because it was delayed there due to the bad weather earlier. In the morning the kids had some fun in the pool where they had a little game of making the biggest splash. And before continuing our journey we visited the Cam-Plex Heritage Center just in front of our hotel which shows some very big machinery and equipment, very exciting for our boys.
